The Most Beautiful Scenery on the Road from Kashgar to Tashkurgan

If you're visiting southern Xinjiang and heading to Kashgar, consider renting a car and setting your destination to Tashkurgan. Along this route, you'll encounter stunning sights such as the White Sand Lake, the Pamir Plateau, vast and majestic snow-capped mountain ranges, and unique valleys. I can't recall the names of those snow-capped mountains, but there's no need to search for travel guides. Simply follow the road signs to wherever you wish to go, as all the beauty lies along the journey itself. The road conditions are excellent, with only a few sections under repair due to landslides, but they are still easily passable. Altitude sickness is rare along this route. There is a checkpoint for border permits, so make sure to get yours in advance at the police station in Kashgar Old Town. Tashkurgan is a small town, with most hotels, inns, and hostels clustered around the food street. You can book accommodations upon arrival, as everything is within walking distance in the central area. On the second day, set your navigation to the "Panlong Ancient Road" and experience all the twists and turns of life. After completing the one-way Panlong Ancient Road and descending the mountain, set your navigation back to Kashgar Old Town. This return journey will reward you with views of an even more beautiful and expansive lake than White Sand Lake.
