But do you know what the Tamsui disaster is? The Tamsui disaster occurred at Section 1, Xinshi 5th Road, Tamsui District. Due to the failure of the urban renewal plan and the oversupply of development plans in Tamsui City, the seaside land originally planned to be developed into residential areas has been abandoned since the 1970s. Although this deserted land has modern roads, street lights, sidewalks and even coastal embankments, it is now overgrown with weeds as it is seldom visited and unattended, with only the coastal embankment serving as a running track for runners. This abandoned area is not simply a wasteland. In addition, many residents of Tamsui New Town run nearby and it is only a 10-minute walk from the Tamsui Light Rail. The contrast between the old and the new is quite magical. As the name suggests, Tamsui New Town overlooks a vast sea view. Surprisingly, the abandoned area is the place closest to the coastal embankment, which should have an unparalleled sea view. We set out from Tamsui by light rail and arrived at Nanhai New Town in about half an hour. Walking up the coastal embankment, we felt a desolate scene on the left, while on the right was the azure blue sea. This strong contrast made the sea view even more mysterious.
