🐇 Okunoshima Island or Rabbit Island 🐇 Another tourist attraction in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan It is a small island in Takehara City. There are cute rabbits waiting for us here. This blog will take you to see the cuteness of “Rabbit Island”. This island was historically a place for chemical experiments during the war. It was used as a factory for poison gas during World War II between 1929 and 1945. When the war ended, the government ordered the evacuation of people. The rabbits that used to be experimental animals were left behind and reproduced naturally. Currently, there are cute rabbits all over the island. We can walk around or bring bicycles across to the island. How to get there 🐰 From Hiroshima Station, take the Shinkansen to Mihara Station, then transfer to the JR Kure Line and get off at Tadanoumi Station. It takes about 90 minutes. Then walk to Tadanoumi Port for about 15 minutes (300 meters). There are signs to the port (Minato Oasis Tadanoumi) along the way to take the ferry to Rabbit Island.
