The next exhibition is far away! 👀 It was a weekend when I went there, so there were not many unexpected people. It was really a pleasure to watch the murals from thousands of years ago at close range and quietly, and to understand the social scene at that time. 🛕The entire Northern Qi Mural Museum was built on the original site of Xu Xianxiu’s tomb in the Northern Qi Dynasty. It is also the first museum in the country to be built on the original site of a mural tomb. In addition to the murals from Xu Xianxiu's tomb unearthed in 2000, there are also the Lou Rui's tomb unearthed in 1979, the Shuiquanliang tomb in Shuozhou in 2008 and the Jiuyuanggang tomb in Xinzhou unearthed in 2013. The exhibition uses three themes: "Special Colors of Other Capitals", "A Thousand Years' Eye" and "Simple Standard Beauty" to take you to understand the characteristics and cultural integration of that era, to see a diverse and prosperous Northern Dynasty, and to interpret the ancient capital of the "Nine Dynasties" —Jinyang plays an important role in its appearance. This is a great mural from a Northern Dynasty tomb in the sixth century, filling a gap in the art history of that period. The characters, carriages, horses, and exotic animals on the wall are all full of fun. The painters at that time used smooth lines and there was no wasted brush. They were truly "fine and sparse, simple but full of meaning". This is exactly the sparse painting style described in ancient texts. Although the dynasty was short-lived, it achieved extraordinary artistic achievements in painting and sculpture🎨, which is really touching. The people of the Northern Dynasties were also very good at painting horses. The horses in Lou Rui Tomb and Jiuyuan Gang are all galloping, as if they are moving, and there is another detail that the horses pull a string after being frightened. This is probably the world's most famous painting. This is the only one in the horse picture, so surprising and interesting🥸. The "Hunting Picture" and "Ascension Picture" in the Jiuyuan Gang Tomb are dancing and lively, and the murals all over the wall are completed in one go like running cursive. It is also the largest hunting map of the Northern Dynasties tombs discovered in China and the most complete system of the ascension map. The murals in Shuiquanliang Tomb are relatively well preserved and vividly reproduced The social and historical features of Northern Qi Dynasty. There are also Northern Qi's fashionable hairstyles "bird bun" and "thick eyebrows". The tomb owner here is Xu Xianxiu, a young hero who fought bravely and made many military exploits. At the end of the Northern Wei Dynasty, he first followed Er Zhurong, then surrendered to Gao Huan, and gradually entered the upper echelons of the Eastern Wei Dynasty. The most well-preserved Northern Qi tomb murals in China were also found here, with a total area of ​​more than 330 square meters. There are more than 200 figures of various types in the mural. Unfortunately, it is not displayed due to protection. We can only find out through VR, but we can’t savor it in detail, which is a bit regretful.
