Taipei Dihua Street Travelogue One of the places I absolutely wanted to visit while traveling in Taipei was **Dihua Street**. I'd heard many times that the streets lined with traditional shops amidst old buildings had a unique Taiwanese charm that could only be felt there. Yellow taxis trundled along the wet roads after the rain, and beneath red-striped awnings, long rows of shops waited for customers. The scents of herbs and tea mingled in the air from every alley, creating a strangely fragrant yet rich atmosphere. Walking along the street, a traditional Chinese medicine shop and a dried fruit shop were the first things I noticed. Red ginseng, dried jujubes, dried mangoes, and nuts were piled high, and inside, the owners were kind enough to offer samples. It was impressive to see travelers filling their shopping bags one by one. In addition to the old shops, Dihua Street was also home to many cafes and souvenir shops in renovated old buildings. The juxtaposition of tradition and modernity was truly captivating. Gazing out at the streets with a cup of warm milk tea in hand, I felt time passing slowly, if only for a moment. What particularly lingered in my mind were the unique facades of the buildings. Red bricks, arched windows, time-worn signs... each and every one seemed to tell a story of old Taipei. Dihua Street isn't a flashy tourist destination, but it was the place where I could most closely experience Taipei's life and history.
