Traveling alone: Taipei Jiufen and Shifen day trip guide

#TaipeiItinerary Spend a day exploring Jiufen and Shifen in Taipei. You can see more attractions if you charter a bus, but it saves money to take the bus alone💸. ## Trip Overview - **Departure Time**: 9:00 am to evening🌅 - **Main Attractions**: Beimen Breakfast, Jiufen Old Street, Shifen Waterfall ## Itinerary - **Morning**: Enjoy Taiwanese breakfast at Comida🍽️ - **Noon**: Shifen Station, Shifen Waterfall, sky lantern release🎈 - **Afternoon**: Jiufen Mountain City, Jiufen Old Street🏞️ ## Transportation arrangements - **From Taipei Main Station to Shifen**: Take the shuttle bus to Ruifang, which takes about 40-60 minutes, then transfer to the Pingxi Branch Line to Shifen, which takes about 20 minutes🚆. - **From Shifen to Jiufen**: Take the train back to Ruifang, then transfer to bus (856 or 1062 is recommended) and arrive at Jiufen Old Street in about 30 minutes🚌. - **Back to Taipei from Jiufen**: Take bus No. 965 and it will take you to downtown Taipei in about 90 minutes🏙️. ## Breakfast recommendation: Comida Comida is a good choice for brunch at Beimen Station. The cheese, meat and egg duo and handmade egg pancakes are both very popular🥚. The business hours are from 7 am to 2 pm, and there are also unique flavored toasts and charcoal-grilled sugar cane milk tea🥤. **Address**: No. 14, Lane 21, Section 1, Zhonghua Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City📍 ## Shifen Station: Romantic Sky Lantern Release Shifen Station is full of romance. It is said that releasing sky lanterns with your partner will bring happiness🎊. Shifen Old Street has many local snacks and handicrafts that attract tourists. After that, you can go to Shifen Waterfall, which is famous for its spectacular water flow🌊. ## Taipei Jiufen: Strolling through the historical town Jiufen is a must-visit attraction for every tourist. In the early days, it was a business of collecting camphor and boiling camphor, hence its name. With the discovery of gold mines, Jiufen gradually prospered. Stroll on the streets, taste local snacks and enjoy the sea view, feeling the unique charm🌅. Specially recommend Jiufen Aganyi’s taro balls and Jiufen Fish Ball Po’s fish ball soup and dried tofu buns🍜. ## Travel Tips - **BRING CASH**: Food stalls and some small shops may only accept cash💵. - **Wear comfortable shoes**: Most of the streets in Jiufen and Shifen have stone steps, so it is recommended to wear comfortable shoes👟. - **Pay attention to the weather**: The weather in Taiwan is changeable. It is recommended to check the weather forecast and bring rain gear when appropriate☔.

✨Taiwan Travel Diary – A Journey Full of Heart & Memories 🧳🌸 From the moment I landed in Taipei, I knew this trip would be special! The first stop was none other than the iconic Taipei 101 🏙️—standing tall and proud, piercing through the clouds. The view from the observatory was absolutely breathtaking 😍. As I gazed down at the city lights, it felt like the whole world was glittering beneath my feet 💫. Cingjing Farm 🐑⛰️ — a peaceful paradise surrounded by rolling green hills, cool breeze, and fluffy sheep wandering freely. Feeding them under the wide blue sky was pure joy 💕. Not far away, colorful windmills spun cheerfully in the wind, adding a whimsical touch to the mountain scenery 🌬️🌻. When night fell, Fengjia Night Market came alive with lights, laughter, and mouthwatering aromas 😋🍢. I tried everything — crispy chicken cutlets, bubble tea, and sweet potato balls 🧋🍠✨. Each bite was happiness on a stick! In Taichung, I paid a visit to Yingcai Fude Temple 🙏 and Guangtian Palace 🏮— feeling the calm and cultural beauty of Taiwanese faith and tradition. The scent of incense and the sound of temple bells created a moment of peace in my heart 🌸🕊️. I also explored Yongle Market 🧵— a paradise for fabric lovers and local crafts! Then, I wandered through the historical Longshan Temple 🐉, where time seemed to slow down as I offered a prayer for health and happiness 💖🕯️. Finally, I found myself lost in the charm of Jiufen Old Street 🎐⛩️ — red lanterns glowing in the mist, the smell of tea and taro balls in the air 🍵🍡. I ended my day at Ruifang Station 🚉, grabbing a snack at Ruifang Food Court before heading back. Every stop in Taiwan was a blend of tradition, nature, and delicious discoveries 💕. I left with a full heart, a happy belly, and memories that will sparkle forever ✨🌏💖. #TaiwanTravel#Wanderlust 🧳🌸#cingjingfarm #taipei101 #jiufen

Shifen Old Street

🚆 Getting There To reach Shifen Waterfall, we booked the package from Trip.com (one day tour). All of us you gather at Taipei Station to board to bus for our tour. From there, it’s about a 40-50 minute to reach the destination. 📐 Size & Structure The falls drop about 20 meters and span about 40 meters in width, making Shifen the widest waterfall in Taiwan. It has a horseshoe-curved drop and powerful flow, creating mist, echoing water sounds, and sometimes rainbows in the spray. 👣 Walking & Viewing Around the waterfall there are multiple viewing platforms from both high elevation and close up, including suspension bridges like the Siguangtan and Guanpu Bridges. Paths are well-marked, and there are gentle walks along the river trail. 🕒 Opening Hours & Entry Summer (June-September): roughly 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, last entry about 5:30 PM Rest of the Year (October-May): about 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, last entry around 4:30 PM Admission is free. 🌿 Best Times & Tips Early morning is better to beat crowds. Rainy season brings more volume of water, which makes the falls more dramatic—and mistier (good for photo rainbows). Wear good walking shoes—the trail includes steps, some slopes, and suspension bridges. 🍜 Nearby Attractions & Extras Shifen Old Street: a charming old town right next to the train line, with shops, street food, and sky-lantern sellers. Lantern releasing is a popular activity in Shifen (though with concerns about environmental impact). Small eateries/stalls nearby where you can try local Taiwanese snacks. #ShifenWaterfall #TaiwanNiagara #PingxiLine #ShifenOldStreet #WaterfallViews #TaiwanNature #TravelTaiwan #ExploreNewTaipei #RainbowFalls #HiddenGemsTaiwan
