Journey Through Time: A Visit to the National Museum of Taiwan History

Walking into the National Museum of Taiwan History is like opening a door to the depths of time. Inside the exhibition halls, soft lighting casts a serene and solemn atmosphere over the historical artifacts. The first sight that catches the eye is an ancient boat in the main hall, a sampan that once crossed the ocean, quietly telling the story of the struggles of immigrant ancestors. The ceramics, clothing, and documents in the exhibition hall seem to be fragments recording the social changes in Taiwan, making one feel as if they are touching the past years. Following the chronological order of the exhibition, I immerse myself in the calligraphy of the Qing Dynasty, architectural drawings from the Japanese colonial period, and visual images of the modernization process. Black and white photos document the changes in the city, whispering forgotten stories in my ear. Standing in front of the 'Century of Light and Shadow' exhibition area, I gaze at the image projections on the wall for a long time, feeling as if I am a tiny speck in the torrent of history. When I leave the museum, my heart is filled with reflection and emotion, as if I have experienced a journey spanning several centuries.
