♨️A very interesting place that preserves the cultural introduction of Beitou Hot Springs. I always thought that Beitou was just a place with hot springs and never learned about the historical background information. The establishment of the museum is also the result of the efforts of many people and is very worthwhile to visit. ♨️The current exhibition content is the Sento Gathering. The exhibition will be themed "Leading the way by Sento Ambassadors", "New perspectives on Sento Art", and "Cultural exchange of public baths". Through the Taiwan-Japan bathhouse cultural exchange of "Beitou Hot Spring Museum x Tokyo Myoho-yu", we will gather together at the "Sento" and explore the cultural charm of public baths. ♨️The Beitou Hot Spring Museum was formerly known as the Beitou Public Bathhouse. It was planned by the Taipei Governor-General Daikichi Imura during the Japanese colonial period and supervised by the Governor-General's Office architect Moriyama Matsunosuke. It was completed on June 17, 1913 (Taisho 2). It is a two-story building in a Japanese-Western style. It was also the largest hot spring public bathhouse in East Asia at the time. After World War II, it was abandoned due to changes in management units. It was not until 1994 that a group of teachers and students from Beitou Elementary School, during their local off-campus teaching, launched a petition to preserve the historic site and reuse the space, hoping to keep the bathhouse. After continuous communication and coordination, the Beitou Public Bathhouse was finally announced as a Class III historic site by the Ministry of the Interior in 1997 (now a municipal historic site). On October 31, 1998, it was officially reopened as the "Beitou Hot Spring Museum" after renovations funded by local enthusiastic residents and the Taipei City Government. #Taipei Attractions
