Taichung Confucius Temple: A Sanctuary for Scholars

Address: No. 30, Section 2, Shuangshi Road, North District, Taichung City Introduction: The Confucius Temple is located adjacent to the Martyrs' Shrine at the intersection of Shuangshi Road and Lixing Road. The temple is designed in the style of a square palace from the Song Dynasty. The main gate is the Lingxing Gate, with two white archways standing majestically in front of it. Behind the gate is a crescent-shaped pond with a bridge over it. Following the shaded path along the pond leads to the main hall, the Dacheng Hall, which features a double-eaved hip roof, giving it a solemn and dignified appearance. The beams and columns are decorated with Song Dynasty-style paintings, adding an elegant touch. Inside the hall, Confucius and his 72 disciples are enshrined. On either side of the Dacheng Hall are the East and West Wings, which house the spirit tablets of ancient scholars. These wings are connected to the Ritual Music Room, and at the back is the Chongsheng Shrine, where the ancestral tablets of Confucius are enshrined. During exam seasons, many students visit to pray for success in their exams. The temple's architecture is very traditional and elegant, making it a great place for both adults and children to visit.
