Mudu Ancient Town in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, China, is a historic garden town with a history spanning 2,500 years. According to legend, during the Spring and Autumn Period, the King of Wu used timber tributed from Yue to construct the Guanwa Palace for Xi Shi on Lingyan Mountain and the Gusu Terrace on Zishi Mountain. The construction was so extensive that it took three years to gather the timber, and the waterways were filled with wood, leading to the name "Mudu." Mudu is located 5 kilometers west of downtown Suzhou, adjacent to Taihu Lake and at the foot of Lingyan Mountain.
