Hanshan Temple is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

1. Hanshan Temple is located in Gusu District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. Formerly known as Fengqiao Temple, it is famous for the timeless poem "Night Mooring Near Maple Bridge," which greatly enhanced the temple's reputation. 2. The main attractions in Hanshan Temple include the Mahavira Hall, Scripture Depository, Bell Tower, Stele Gallery, and Fengjiang Tower, among 53 others. The main scenic spots are collectively known as the Twelve Scenic Wonders. 3. Hanshan Temple is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and is listed as one of the top ten temples in China due to its historical relics. In December 2008, Hanshan Temple received two world records: the "largest poetry stele" and the "largest Buddhist bell" in the world. 4. The friendship and Buddhist attainments of two Tang Dynasty monks, Hanshan and Shide, add a legendary touch to the temple. Hanshan, renowned for his poetic talent, lived in seclusion in the Cold Mountain Rock of Tiantai Mountain; Shide, an abandoned infant, was adopted by Monk Fenggan. The two met at Guoqing Temple, became close friends, and studied Buddhism and poetry together. Their works were later compiled into the "Collection of Hanshan Zi." 5. Hall of the Heavenly Kings: Enshrines the Four Heavenly Kings, symbolizing favorable weather. In the center is Maitreya Buddha, the future Buddha. The couplets on both sides, "With a big belly and round drum, able to contain all the unbearable things in the world; with a heart full of joy, welcoming all destined people in the world," were inscribed by Abbot Xingkong. Mahavira Hall: The main deity is the statue of Sakyamuni Buddha, flanked by iron-gilded statues of the Eighteen Arhats from the Ming Dynasty. Unusually, stone carvings of Hanshan and Shide (painted by Luo Pin in the Qing Dynasty) are enshrined at the back. Bell Tower: A hexagonal, double-eaved pavilion houses a 108-ton imitation Tang bronze bell, inscribed with the "Lotus Sutra." A bell-ringing ceremony is held every New Year's Eve. Scripture Depository: Rebuilt in the late Qing Dynasty, it houses Buddhist scriptures such as the "Dragon Canon." The building features a combined design of a hard-ridge roof and a hip-and-gable roof. 6. Hanshan Temple was first built during the Tianjian period of Emperor Wu of Liang in the Southern Dynasty (approx. 502–519 AD), with a history of over 1,500 years. The Tang Dynasty eminent monk Hanshan Zi once resided here, hence the temple's name. 7.
