Lingering Garden

Lingering Garden is a 5A scenic area located at No. 338 Liuyuan Road, Gusu District, Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province. It was first built in the 21st year of the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (1593) and has been abandoned and changed hands many times since. In 1953, the Suzhou Municipal Government restored the garden. Lingering Garden is a large classical private garden in China, covering an area of 23,300 square meters. It is in the style of the Qing Dynasty and is famous for its architectural art. The halls are spacious and gorgeous, and the courtyards are full of variety. The entire garden adopts an irregular layout, making the garden architecture blend with mountains, water, and stones to present a natural interest. The garden is divided into four different scenic areas: central, east, north, and west, using cloud walls and building complexes. Lingering Garden, together with Humble Administrator's Garden, Master of the Nets Garden, and Huanxiu Mountain Villa, is listed in the World Heritage List. Locals say that without Lingering Garden (accessible by bus and subway), there would be no Humble Administrator's Garden, which is a very worthwhile place to check in.
