Surabaya Heroes Monument

The Surabaya Heroes Monument is located in Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia. It was built to commemorate the Indonesian warriors who sacrificed their lives during the fierce Battle of Surabaya in 1945. For us Taiwanese, although this part of history may not be familiar, stepping into the site immediately evokes a sense of solemnity and gravity. The monument itself towers into the sky, symbolizing the indomitable spirit of the nation. Adjacent to it is a museum that displays numerous war relics and historical images, providing deeper insight into the context and sacrifices of that time.
