German Christ Church, Independence History Museum, Parliament Gardens, Independence Avenue 【1】German Christ Church Exterior The German Christ Church (P2) was built in 1910, just after the war between the Germans and the local Herero people of Namibia had ended, symbolizing a hope for peace. Next to it is the building of the Independence History Museum (P3). From here, you can also see the white Hilton Hotel (P4) with its dome that can accommodate a helicopter. 【2】Parliament Gardens Exterior Not far from the German Christ Church is the Parliament House (P5), originally intended as a palace known as Ink Palace. The Parliament House has a garden in front with three statues (P6-P8, from left to right). The statue on the left is of the first Namibian chief who resisted German colonization and sought independence for 48 years; the middle statue is also of a leader who resisted German colonizers; the statue on the right is of a leader who protested against the apartheid policy of the South African government in Namibia. 【3】Independence Avenue Exterior Independence Avenue is located in the center of Windhoek, the capital of Namibia, and is the busiest street in Windhoek (P1, P9, P10).
