A Trip to Sunamganj – Beauty Beyond Imagination

Recently, I had the chance to travel to Sunamganj, a district in northeastern Bangladesh, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Known for its scenic haors (wetlands), rivers, and green hills, Sunamganj offers a peaceful escape from the chaos of city life. I started my journey from Sylhet, and after a 3-4 hour drive through rural landscapes and lush green fields, I reached Sunamganj town. From there, I took a boat ride to Tanguar Haor, one of the most beautiful spots in Bangladesh. Floating over the clear blue water surrounded by distant mountains and green fields felt like a dream. Another highlight was Barikka Tila, a small hill near the Indian border. The view from the top was absolutely stunning. I also visited Jadukata River, where the water is crystal clear with a blue tint—perfect for photography and relaxation. Travel Tips: 1. Best Time to Visit: Monsoon (June–August) is the best time to see the full beauty of the haor. But if you prefer less water and easier travel, winter (November–February) is also great. 2. Boat Rental: For Tanguar Haor, book a boat in advance if possible. There are both engine boats and houseboats available. 3. Pack Light: Bring light clothes, a raincoat, sunscreen, and good shoes. Don’t forget a power bank—electricity can be limited in remote areas. 4. Local Food: Try local fish dishes—they’re fresh and delicious! 5. Respect Nature: Don’t litter, and try to keep the environment clean. This trip reminded me how naturally beautiful Bangladesh is. If you’re looking for a calm and scenic getaway, Sunamganj should definitely be on your list.
