Chaya Mountain Scenic Area is located in Suiping County, Zhumadian City. It is not only the place where Wu Cheng'en, the author of the Chinese classical masterpiece 'Journey to the West', secluded himself to write and gain inspiration, but also one of the main filming locations for the TV series 'Journey to the West'. Here, you can enjoy the unique and beautiful natural scenery and relive the classic scenes from the novel and TV series. Chaya Mountain, also known as Linglong Mountain and Xiyou Fairy Mountain, is an extension of the eastern edge of the Funiu Mountains. It is connected to Nanshan, Beishan, Huaguo Mountain, and Liufeng Mountain, with Xiumihu, Pipa Lake, Baihua Lake, and Tianmo Lake dotted among them. There are more than 300 scenic spots including peaks, caves, shelters, and rocks. The stones, mountains, and waters in the scenic area are interdependent, with gorges, valleys, and peaks connected, and strange peaks and rocks can be seen everywhere. The scenery is picturesque all year round. After visiting the mountain, the great calligrapher Yan Zhenqing of the Tang Dynasty even wrote 'A Different World'. Five years later, in early autumn 2023, I embarked on a journey to Chaya Mountain again. This trip brought me new feelings and experiences. Last time, I chose a leisurely canyon tour of about 5 kilometers: Nanshan Gate - Journey to the West Cultural Square - Pipa Lake - Geological Science Park - Fengshui Ridge - Bibo Pool - Damu Cliff - Eagle Worry Stream - Wanfo Ridge - Giant Dragon Turning Back - Tianmo Peak - Tianmo Lake, which took about 3 hours. This route had beautiful lake and mountain scenery, which was breathtaking; this time, it was an approximately 8-kilometer route featuring dangerous mountain roads and unique rock formations: Nanshan Gate - Journey to the West Cultural Square - Xiumihu - Black Wind Cave - Bao Gong Temple - Huaihua Valley - Take the magic carpet up the mountain - Stone Monkey Courtyard - Suspension Bridge - Line Sky - Flying Stone - Guanyin Sending Child - Phoenix Terrace - Take the cliff slide down the mountain - Fengshui Ridge - Take the sky drift down the mountain - Pipa Lake - Kayak - Nanshan Gate. During the mountain climbing, I enjoyed the unique rock landscapes and experienced the thrilling and unique natural scenery of the newly developed magic carpet up the mountain, cliff slide, and sky drift down the mountain.
