Haeinsa Temple

Haeinsa Temple (해인사) is one of the most famous and historic Buddhist temples in South Korea. Located within Gayasan National Park, South Gyeongsang Province, the temple was founded in 802 during the Silla Dynasty by two monks, Suneung and Ijeong, after they returned from China. Haeinsa is known for housing the Tripitaka Koreana, one of the oldest and most complete collections of Buddhist texts in the world. Haeinsa Temple features beautiful traditional Korean architecture, with intricately carved wooden beams and arched roofs. The temple complex has several main halls, including the Daejeokkwangjeon (Great Hall), which is used for worship and meditation. Situated on Mount Gayasan, the temple is surrounded by stunning natural scenery, such as green mountains and clear rivers. Many people visit Haeinsa not only to make pilgrimages, but also to enjoy the natural beauty of the surrounding area. Haeinsa remains a spiritual center and meditation place for Buddhists to this day, and also attracts many tourists from all over the world.
