Songkhla City Pillar Shrine

#SongkhlaTravel Songkhla City Pillar Shrine “City Pillar Shrine” is a shrine located on Nang Ngam Road. It is an ancient site from the Rattanakosin period. It is a Chinese pavilion-style shrine. It received royal permission from King Nangklao, Rama III, who ordered the installation of the Songkhla City Pillar. He granted a tree of the Chaipruk tree, a candle, and various Thai offerings. He also appointed Phraya Wichian Khiri (Thian Seng Na Songkhla) as the regent on March 10, 1842. Therefore, the City Pillar Shrine has been with Songkhla until today and is a place of worship for the people of Songkhla. According to the beliefs of the Songkhla Chinese people, a sacred deity has been invited to protect the city. It is the City Pillar Shrine, named “Seng Hong Lao Eia”, and is enshrined behind the city pillar.
