Summer budget trip through Bulgaria

From the massive Alexander Nevsky Cathedral to the peaceful Borisova Garden and Roman ruins under the city, there’s a lot to see while spending very little. The metro is efficient and cheap, and local food like banitsa or shopska salad offers a taste of Bulgarian tradition for just a few euros. Next, I headed to Plovdiv by train. The journey took about 2.5 hours and cost only a few euros. Plovdiv impressed me with its blend of ancient history and a youthful vibe. The Old Town, with its Roman amphitheater and painted Revival-era houses, is beautiful. I also explored the creative Kapana district with its trendy cafés and galleries. Finally, I made it to Burgas on the Black Sea coast. While not as flashy as other beach resorts, it has its own charm with long parks along the sea, quiet beaches, and easy access to nature reserves. Even in summer, it was easy to find budget accommodation and tasty seafood at reasonable prices. This trip proved that Bulgaria is perfect for budget-conscious travelers seeking culture, variety, and sunshine.
