Rainbow Bridge

By day, it is also known as the rainbow bridge because of its graffiti. By night, the bridge is illuminated and depending on the colors, it can be a red/blue/green bridge at night. The naming of this bridge came from “the Alkaffs, a prominent Arabian family, who were among the wealthiest in Singapore during the early 20th century.” The shape of the bridge is also unique as it resembles a light boat which was commonly used back in the days to transport goods along the Singapore River. The vibrant colors of this bridge happened in 2004. From the website, :The Alkaff Bridge was painted in January 2004 in vibrant colours by Filipino artist Pacita Abad (1946–2004) and a team of rope specialists. The artist and her crew of helpers used 55 different colours and more than 900 litres of industrial-strength paint to transform the bridge into Singapore's first "Bridge of Art". You will not miss this Alkaff bridge when you are in this area. It is also a very photogenic spot for photos. Come in the evening, enjoy a stroll along the Singapore River and enjoy the illumination and vibrancy.
