πŸ¦† Dian Xiao Er, VivoCity β€” Roast Duck, Rich Flavors & Riverfront Feels

We had dinner at Dian Xiao Er in VivoCity, and it turned out to be one of those meals that leaves you full, satisfied, and already planning the next visit. The place has that rustic, old-Chinese-inn kind of vibe with wooden beams and warm lighting, but still feels comfortable and modern. We got a table by the window with views of the harbourβ€”always a bonus. We started with the roast duck, their signature dish, and it absolutely delivered. The skin was golden and crisp, the meat was juicy with a subtle herbal marinade, and that dipping sauce pulled it all together. It’s one of those dishes that keeps you going back for β€œjust one more bite.” Next up was the dongpo rouβ€”a rich, braised pork belly done Shanghai-style. It came glistening in its deep, dark sauce, and the meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The layers of fat and lean were perfectly balanced, and it paired so well with a bowl of plain rice to soak up all that sticky, savory goodness. The surprise star of the meal for me was the three-egg spinachβ€”silky, savory, and comforting. You could taste the depth from the century egg, salted egg, and regular egg all blending into this umami-rich broth that coated the tender spinach perfectly. And finally, the salted egg stir-fried lotus rootβ€”crispy edges, sweet crunch from the lotus root, and that addictive salted egg coating that made it impossible to stop snacking on. A great balance of texture and flavor, and a fun twist on a veggie dish. Service was prompt and friendly, and dishes came out at a nice pace. It felt like the kind of place where you can enjoy a relaxed dinner with family or bring out-of-town guests for solid Chinese classics in a polished setting. #summervacay #singapore #singaporetrip #vivocity #harbourfronttrip
