Pedal Through Coney Island: A Scenic Weekend Escape

Spanning 50 hectares, this ecologically sustainable park is home to diverse flora and fauna, including several nationally threatened species. With its dense woodlands, mangroves, and quiet coastal trails, it’s an ideal escape from the city's bustle. We started our journey at Punggol Settlement, where we rented bicycles before making our way towards Coney Island’s West Entrance. As we cycled through the island, we were surrounded by towering casuarina trees, earthy trails, and a sense of tranquility that made the ride especially refreshing. The island’s five small but pristine beaches, accessible via rustic paths, offered picturesque views and peaceful spots to rest. After exploring the island, we exited through the East Entrance, crossing Serangoon Dam—a scenic stretch where the open waters provided a breathtaking backdrop. From there, we continued cycling towards Lorong Halus, enjoying the riverside views before looping back to Punggol Settlement, where we returned our bicycles. The entire trip took about 2 to 3 hours, including leisurely cycling, photo stops, and moments to appreciate the natural beauty around us. Since there are no food options on the island itself, we ended our adventure with a well-earned meal at Punggol Settlement.
