🏨Hotel: The Raffles Hotel Singapore 📍Address: 1 Beach Road - This is the second stop of our Hotel Hop in Singapore, where we stayed at Singapore's No.1 national treasure hotel, also the hotel where Nick Young and Rachel Chu stayed in Crazy Rich Asians😉 - The Raffles Hotel is one of the few remaining 19th-century luxury hotels in the world. The hotel opened in 1887, named after Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore, and was built by the hotelier Sarkies Brothers. Over the past century, it has witnessed Singapore's colonial history and hosted various social celebrities, including Charlie Chaplin, Queen Elizabeth, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. The hotel does not shy away from showcasing this heritage, with classical furniture, artifacts from the past, and detailed stories displayed throughout the hotel. Those interested should particularly check out the library and shops. - All rooms in the hotel are luxurious suites, combining Victorian English style with Peranakan culture, showcasing exquisite and meticulous design. Check-in is done directly in the room, giving a homely feel. Welcome fruits and snacks are prepared in advance in the room, and the mini bar snacks are all complimentary (including my favorite brand of truffle chips). For special occasions, the hotel also provides adorable balloons and desserts💕 - Breakfast at Tiffin Room is a highlight, though you can also choose to dine in the adjacent courtyard with a fountain. It is semi-buffet style, with a rich variety of dishes and a distinct Singaporean flavor. Additionally, the Long Bar is worth a visit, as it is the birthplace of the famous cocktail Singapore Sling. We tried this drink by the pool, and the staff thoughtfully introduced its origin, explaining that it was designed to look non-alcoholic so that women, who were not typically allowed to drink, could also have fun. - The Raffles Hotel and the previously mentioned Capella are completely different in style. Capella feels more modern and closer to nature, being an island resort hotel, while Raffles has a deeper historical and cultural heritage, exuding a sophisticated, aristocratic vibe. Both hotels have their unique charms, and I recommend that visitors to Singapore experience both.
