Singapore's hidden attractions are the most popular on Instagram

The first time I saw this pergola full of flowers, I was particularly amazed. The purple flower vines grew along the pergola, and the flower buds hung on the branches, quietly blooming in the sun. This pergola is hidden in the Japanese Cemetery Park in Singapore. It is a very niche place. Not only is it good for taking pictures, it is also a place of historical significance. Unlike some other memorial sites related to World War II, this place has not been hyped up, it is quiet and well protected. Walking in the park on a quiet afternoon, you can only hear the chirping of birds and the rustling of wind through branches. The park is not big, and it is enough to spend two or three hours to visit. If you know Japanese, the inscriptions are also worth seeing. This is also a good place to learn about history. Japanese Cemetery Park

#exploresgtogether #attractions #history The Japanese cemetery park is located in Hougang. It is the largest Japanese cemetery in Southeast Asia at 29,359 square metres, consisting of 910 tombstones that contain the remains of members of the Japanese community in Singapore, including young Japanese prostitutes, civilians, soldiers and convicted war criminals executed in Changi Prison. It was gazetted as a memorial park by the Singapore government in 1987. The park is typically opened 8am to 6pm and the bougainvillaeas flowers can be seen in full bloom at different times of the year. It’s always a sight to behold with many comparing it to the likes of Japan’s cherry blossoms. Although a pretty photo spot, do also bear in mind to be respectful as it is after all a cemetery.
