🏰 Peleș – The Castle of Time A 9-Part Journey Series: A Breathless Castle A massive oak door and a stained-glass image of a knight in armor seem to be guarding our entrance. This is the palace's first reception hall, inspired by the German Renaissance. As we step inside, a marble statue of a little boy holding a cloth stands silently, as if waiting to greet guests. Some say he might be "Cupid," the god of love, but at that moment, he just looks like a child wanting to say, "Welcome!" In one corner, a fireplace, even without fire, feels warm, as if it's been heated for centuries. Then we enter the breathtaking Grand Hall, featuring a carved wooden ceiling that can be opened and closed to let in natural light in the summer. We can admire the beauty of the ancient columns and carvings of gods and mythical creatures that adorn the room. Further in, we'll find a long corridor leading up to a staircase flanked by gleaming golden carved woodwork and softly illuminated lamps. This is no ordinary staircase; it's the path kings used to welcome important guests in the past. Even today, the hall is packed with tourists. But we feel as if the castle is "welcoming" us in the same way it has welcomed guests in the past. The atmosphere is tranquil and full of stories, as if we're truly walking into history. Past the thick curtains, we enter the king's private quarters, which include the library, the writing room, and the discussion room. All rooms remain pristine, as if time had never passed.
