A Frenchman, guided by Zhou Daguan's "Customs of Cambodia" from the Yuan Dynasty, unveiled Angkor Wat from within the dense jungle. Inspired by Jiang Xun's "The Beauty of Angkor," I embarked on my own journey through Angkor Wat, carrying only a faint impression. The grandeur of Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm's ancient trees entwined with its ruins, the exquisite murals of Preah Khan, the delicate red bricks of Banteay Srei, and the mysterious desolation of Beng Mealea… The sunset at Phnom Bakheng, the sunrise at Angkor Wat… From Hinduism to Buddhism, from shaping beliefs to portraying the mundane, a bygone civilization withered, its treasures plundered, yet the Khmer smile remains, eternally etched here. Kindness and peace also remain, eternally present.
