Soy Sauce Museum

Address: 1850 Noma, Shodoshima, Shozu District, Kagawa 761-4421, Japan. Getting there: The museum are accessible by rental car or taxi in about 40 minutes from Tonosho Port. Highlights: Shodoshima has a 400 year history of soy sauce production. This Soy Sauce Museum is maintained by Marukin, one of the leading soy sauce companies on the island. The museum resembles a traditional soy sauce factory. Marukin has a small museum with displays of the sauce-making process, old implements, photos and interesting facts you never knew about the ubiquitous brown stuff. There are good English explanations, and you can try the surprisingly tasty soy-sauce-flavoured ice cream.
