The State of Zhongshan during the Warring States period was a mysterious existence. Historical records about it are sparse, only mentioning that it was established by the Baidi people, seemingly not part of the orthodox Huaxia civilization. It wasn't until the 1970s that several royal tombs of the State of Zhongshan in Lingshou County, Hebei, were excavated, unearthing a large number of relics, revealing its mystery. The Hebei Museum has two exhibition halls dedicated to displaying the finest of these relics. Judging from the shape, craftsmanship, and inscriptions of the relics, the State of Zhongshan was no different from other vassal states, clearly belonging to the Huaxia civilization. Whether its founders were Huaxia or Di people seemed unimportant. Among them, the gilt bronze tiger devouring a deer screen stand is vivid and exquisitely crafted, used for setting up screens, and is a treasure of the museum. Even more astonishing, a bronze pot still contained some wine from over two thousand years ago.
