Tickets can be reserved for a specific date through the official ticketing platform, and entry is allowed at any time on the selected day. Taiwanese visitors can enter for free but must still reserve a date in advance. Arrive early at the ticket checkpoint as the queue can be very long. There is a green channel (for specific individuals) at the checkpoint, so make sure not to go the wrong way! On the right-hand side of the entrance, there is a visitor service center where you can store your luggage. Within the area, there is also a "Fangcheng" warm station providing drinking water, first aid kits, and, of course, restrooms. The palace has recently been repainted, which somewhat diminishes its historical feel, and the paint smell is not very pleasant! Without a guide, it’s mostly about walking around and taking photos. The crowds are not as dense as those at the Forbidden City in Beijing, but it’s still impossible to capture photos without people in the background. Staff near the throne will urge visitors to take their photos quickly and move on to avoid congestion.
