Who needs rapeseed blossoms? The sunsets in Shitan are just as stunning.

Located deep in the mountains, the small village of Xiatai in Shitan gained instant fame thanks to an award-winning photograph at the Asian International Photography Exhibition. It's a photographer's paradise and one of the "Top 100 Photography Spots" in Huangshan City. For over 200 days a year, a sea of clouds graces this area, and from March to May, Shitan explodes in a riot of color with rapeseed blossoms, peach blossoms, pear blossoms, and sunflowers blooming in succession. The Xiatai Viewing Platform, at an altitude of about 500 meters, offers the best vantage point. From here, you can gaze upon layers of mountains stretching towards the horizon, with houses perched on the slopes appearing like a celestial realm. The narrow, winding mountain road from the county road to the Xiatai Viewing Platform is about 4 kilometers long. Driving is manageable when traffic is light. However, during peak blossom season, passing other vehicles can be challenging. Therefore, from early March to early May, private cars are prohibited from accessing the Xiatai Viewing Platform. Shuttle buses are available at the foot of the mountain (15 yuan). For those who enjoy hiking, a walking path connects Shitan Village and Xiatai, taking about an hour.
