Shuangmei Falls - the largest waterfall on the Shiretoko Peninsula, selected as one of the top 100 waterfalls in Japan and one of the eight scenic spots in Shiretoko

The Futami Falls is the largest waterfall on the Shiretoko Peninsula. Its official name is "Oshinkoshin no Taki", which means "a river that slides down a cliff" in the Ainu language. This is a mysterious waterfall without a source. The water flows out from the cliffs and is released after gathering the abundant water from the Shiretoko Mountains. Because the waterfall is divided into two parts by rocks in the middle, it is also called the "Double Beauty Waterfall". The waterfall is about 30 meters wide and has a height difference of 50 meters.
