On Sunday night, the Long Bar on the first floor of the historic Waldorf Astoria building exudes its own charm amidst the subtle music. Once home to the longest bar in the Far East, it used to be a gathering spot for the elites of various foreign firms. Now, a DJ sets the mood in the evening, and there are instruments like piano and cello on-site—occasional live performances likely still take place. Sofas and regular seating are scattered throughout the bar. The vintage fans and retro décor together highlight Long Bar’s timeless and unique appeal. You can also order food here, from light snacks to seafood—plenty of options. Their roasted peanuts are genuinely great, though the beans weren’t very appetizing—I barely touched them. But peanuts with drinks? A classic combo! The “London No.1 Martini” was made with London No.1 Gin, honey, fresh lemon juice, and thyme. This innovative cocktail was co-created with Boris Ivan, the head bartender from the Michelin-starred Galvin at Windows in London. The alcohol content is slightly high, but I really liked it—it had the refreshing lemon flavor I enjoy. Watching the bartenders craft cocktails while enjoying the live music here is a real pleasure.
