Check out the outdoor spiral walkway at the Shanghai Museum East Branch

My first visit to the Shanghai Museum East Branch. No advance reservation is needed—just scan your ID at the entrance for free admission. The entrance is on the underground level. The East Branch feels more spacious than the old Shanghai Museum at People's Square. The exhibits are abundant, featuring galleries of bronze ware, jade, coins, ceramics, calligraphy, seal carving, and more. What left the deepest impression on me was the outdoor walkway descending from the rooftop. The scenery is stunning, and strolling along the spiral path feels like discovering a serene oasis amidst the urban jungle—perfect for photo ops. The East Branch has several dining spots, cafes, and souvenir shops. Food prices are slightly high but still acceptable, so if you're planning a full-day visit without bringing snacks, you can dine there. Free water dispensers provide both hot and cold water—just bring your own cup. Note that the Shanghai Museum East Branch is closed every Tuesday, so plan accordingly. Take Metro Line 2 to Shanghai Science and Technology Museum Station, and it's just a short walk from the exit. #
