‘Alice’s Sister Garden’ at Shanghai Disney Resort

#discoverchina We visited Red Queen Imperial Garden, a whimsical and enchanting place. The garden is home to a grand statue of Alice’s sister, which immediately captures attention. The entrance to the garden is intriguing, with vibrant, playful elements that set the tone for the adventure ahead. Inside, the space is filled with delightful surprises. One of the highlights is the “haha mirror,” which distorts reflections and invites laughter. A giant chair also stands as a perfect photo spot, allowing visitors to feel tiny in comparison. The entire garden exudes a sense of wonder, where every corner offers a new opportunity for fun and creativity, making it a memorable experience.

Grand Central Hotel Shanghai

#discoverchina Spent 2 nights at the Grand Central. Entering into the hotel seemed a bit cluttered with the fist view one gets is of the bar and the breakfast area, with reception tucked away at the back. Check in was very efficient hence quick. From the reception you get a more grander view of the hotel and know you are in 5* surroundings The room was large and very grand. The furnishing lived up to it. the bathroom was large and ornate. At breakfast staff were good and service very good. Food selection was okay, not very big. Hotel in a very good position and in walking distance to most places...Nanjing Road, the Bund, Peoples square etc. Had a good stay. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anybody.

Shanghai Museum

#discoverchina One can never visit Shanghai without visiting the iconic Shanghai Museum. If one were to do so, it’s like a man missing the opportunity to get culturally educated and inspired and it is one of the best curated museums in Shanghai. As it was their local school holiday on the date of our visit, the entrance was extremely crowded with long queues of visitors. It could be the tight security screening at the entrance that hindered the queue from shortening quickly. We spent at least half an hour to queue in order to enter the museum. Inside the museum, there were different levels catering to different types of artifacts and history to be shared. During my visit the 1st floor of the museum has been occupied by a big Egyptian special exhibit (which charges a quite high entrance fee, and doesn’t seem to warrant a visit), the content of the 3rd floor of the museum has been moved out to the Shanghai Museum East Building. The available exhibits are Marco Polo special exhibit (on the 2nd floor), and the All things glittering exhibit, the Ming-Qing Furniture exhibit, and the Chinese Minority Nationality Art exhibit on the 4th floor. The entire exhibit can be visited in about a hour.
