Strolling Through Shanghai: The Ba Jin Library in a Century-Old Building

The Ba Jin Library, located at 455 Wujin Road, Hongkou District (formerly 111 Range Road in the Shanghai International Settlement), was built in the late Qing Dynasty. The two century-old buildings that house the library were originally named Yi Hong Yuan, meaning "rainbow reflected on a screen." The library mainly showcases Ba Jin's literary creations and life, and is divided into five halls. Hall 1 is a cultural activity space, exhibiting Ba Jin's literary achievements in Shanghai. The exhibition focuses on the _Turbulent Stream Trilogy_ (_Family_, _Spring_, and _Autumn_) and _Random Thoughts_, displaying various editions and manuscripts, as well as correspondence between Ba Jin and the translators of his works. Hall 2 is a literary magazine reading room, showcasing Ba Jin's editorial achievements. Hall 3 is a cultural and leisure space, exhibiting Ba Jin's life, including four interconnected replica scenes. Hall 4 is a book reading room. Hall 5 is divided into two areas: a digital reading room and an exhibition space.
