Yu Garden is thought to have been constructed during the Ming Dynasty, about 400 years ago. Yu Garden, also known as Yuyuan Garden or Yu Yuan in Chinese, is a classical garden in Shanghai's Huangpu District that is a must-see destination. It was owned by a government officer named Pan Yunduan during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Yu means pleasing and fulfilling in Chinese, and this garden was created especially for Pan's parents to have a peaceful and happy retirement time.
