The Shanghai Natural History Museum (a branch of the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum) is located in Jing'an Sculpture Park in Jing'an District, Shanghai. It has a building area of 45,257 square meters, with an exhibition and educational service area of 32,200 square meters. The architectural design of the museum is inspired by the shell structure of a 'snail,' with green plants spiraling upwards on the roof, resembling a 'green snail.' The building integrates the design style of a 'mountain and water garden,' with over 160 species of plants distributed in an island-like manner in the central landscape area, forming a 'mountain and water garden' with five 'pools.' - Mystery of Origins: Located on the second floor, exploring clues about the origins of the universe and life. - River of Life: On the first floor, showcasing various organisms throughout history. - Path of Evolution: On the basement level, presenting fossils from different geological eras and the process of species evolution. - Road to the Future: Also located on the basement level, focusing on the challenges and future directions faced by humanity. - Shanghai Story: Situated on the mezzanine between the basement and the first floor, depicting the past, present, and future of Shanghai. - Earth Treasures: On the second basement level, explaining the origins and attributes of Earth's geological treasures, minerals, and landforms. - Ecological Diversity: Also on the second basement level, interpreting representative ecological systems from different perspectives. - Human-Nature Connection: Located on the second basement level, including two modules, 'Agricultural Origins' and 'Chinese Wisdom,' to understand the relationship between human civilization development and nature. - Colorful Life: Also on the second basement level, showcasing the diversity of life through a rich display of species. - Survival Wisdom: On the second basement level, interpreting the wisdom of the proliferation and survival of all things in the world. The Shanghai Natural History Museum has over 280,000 collections, covering five major categories: plants, animals, paleontology, geology, and humanities. Among them, there are more than 150,000 plant specimens, over 4,000 mammal specimens, more than 10,000 fish, bird, amphibian, and reptile specimens each, nearly 33,000 insect specimens, over 50,000 other invertebrate specimens, more than 5,000 geological specimens, over 8,000 paleontological specimens, and more than 3,500 cultural and folk specimens. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (except on national holidays). Ticket prices are as follows: Adult admission is 30 yuan; seniors aged 60 to 69 can purchase senior tickets with valid ID for 25 yuan; children over 1.3 meters tall and full-time undergraduate and below students can purchase student tickets with a student ID for 12 yuan; family members of active-duty military personnel (including spouses, dependent adult children, and parents of active-duty military personnel) can purchase family tickets for 25 yuan (relevant identification must be presented at the entrance).
