City Park Guide: Shanghai People's Park

Shanghai People's Park is located in the bustling area of downtown Shanghai, with the main entrance at 231 West Nanjing Road. It is connected to Middle Tibet Road to the east, South Huangpi Road to the west, Jinling Road to the south, and West Nanjing Road to the north, and is regarded as Shanghai's 'Central Park'. The park was designed by the famous Chinese garden expert Mr. Cheng Shifu. The layout is based on the north-south central axis of People's Square and the Municipal Government Building, divided into the traditional landscape area on the west and the leisure and entertainment area on the east, roughly divided into three scenic areas: east, middle, and west. In the northeast, there is the May Thirtieth Movement Monument and the statue of Zhang Side; the central area is open and spacious, with buildings such as Antarctic Stone, Fengguang Tower Teahouse, an open-air theater, and a dance hall; the western area is a concentration of garden architecture, with pavilions, corridors, pavilions, rockeries, ponds, and wisteria trellises arranged in a picturesque disorder, and a wide variety of plant species, making it the main tourist area.
