2024 Shanghai Travel Guide: Must-see attractions, popular food, hotels, transportation routes (updated in September)
Originally a fishing village, Shanghai has become one of the world's most cosmopolitan cities, all while retaining its historic charm. The Huangpu River splits the city into Puxi (West of the River) and Pudong (East of the River). The remarkable Lujiazui skyline clearly defines the start of Pudong, and is home to Shanghai's most iconic skyscrapers, including the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, and the Shanghai Tower - the world's second-tallest building.Puxi, informally known as Old Shanghai, boasts an eclectic blend of Art Deco, French Tudor, and Shikumen-style buildings, historic temples, and modern skyscrapers. Visitors often find themselves immersed in the dramatic combination of Western and Chinese cultures in the "Paris of the Orient". City parks reveal a myriad of activities for Shanghai's seniors, including chess games, pavement calligraphy, and line dancing. Outside of downtown Puxi, uncover expansive gardens, ancient water towns, and even islands.Filled with an explosive dining scene, Shanghai is home to several MICHELIN Restaurants, including Ultraviolet by Paul Pairet, one of the world's most exclusive dining experiences. With a variety of cuisines across all price ranges, find yourself spoiled for choice during a stroll down any neighborhood. Shanghai's booming nightlife is proof that this city never sleeps. Award-winning cocktail and craft beer bars fill the streets of the Former French Concession, leading nightclubs tastefully line the rooftops of The Bund, and dive bars flood the streets of Jing'an and Changning Districts. If you don't mind splurging on drinks with a view, head across the river to Lujiazui to experience what bars like Flair - China's highest rooftop bar, and Cloud 9 - on the top floor of Jinmao Tower, have to offer.

The most expensive hotel I've stayed at in Shanghai! It's amazing.
Hey guys~👋 In this ever-changing season, I found a super healing treasure place and can't wait to share it with you!👇
🌈【Warm Waiting in the Rain】🌈
During the typhoon, nature was ruthless, but the Seagull Hotel gave me and my family the warmest hug in its unique way.🏨 From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I was deeply moved by the unusual warmth. The smiles of the staff seemed to dispel all the haze, and every detail revealed a sense of home.🏠
🛋️【Service, More Than Just Meticulous】🛋️
Speaking of service, Seagull Hotel really did it to the extreme! Faced with the challenge of the typhoon, they were not flustered at all, but even more considerate. From the hot drinks to the detailed return strategy, every need was carefully met. Especially the efficient response ability, which is reassuring and comfortable.💪
🏠【Room, a Synonym for Quality】🏠
The Seagull Suite I stayed in this time was full of surprises! The design is full of sense, and every detail reveals a unique ingenuity. The quality of the supplies is also top-notch, even the earplugs are Honeywell's, this kind of small detail really makes people feel good!👂 Moreover, the hotel's humanized treatment also makes people feel warm. Although there were some minor incidents, timely communication and adjustment made everything so perfect.
🍽️【Food, a Feast for the Taste Buds】🍽️
The quality of breakfast is also not to be ignored! The richness is moderate but each one is exquisite and delicious. Sitting outside, you can enjoy the food while admiring the morning view of the magic city, which is simply a double enjoyment of vision and taste!🌅
💡【Small Suggestions, Hope to Get Better and Better】💡
Of course, as a loyal fan, I have to make some small suggestions: the circulating water system can be optimized to avoid waiting too long for hot water; local cleaning can be more meticulous; if the echo wall and audio can be used, the experience will be even better. However, the overall performance of Seagull Hotel has exceeded my expectations!
🎉【Summary, Highly Recommended】🎉
In general, Seagull Hotel is one of my must-stay recommendations when I come to Shanghai! Whether it's location, service or quality, it's impeccable. Every time I stay, I can feel the warmth and comfort of home. I sincerely hope that it can do better and better, and look forward to the next meeting!💖

This top luxury hotel in Shanghai is so good, it'll make you cry.
Imagine staying in a luxurious and artistic hotel in a towering building on the banks of the Huangpu River in the bustling city center of Shanghai. Through the panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, you can see the beautiful scenery of the Bund and the spectacular skyline of Pudong. Whether it's sunrise or moon viewing during the Mid-Autumn Festival, you can enjoy unparalleled visual enjoyment here.
This is the Bvlgari Hotel Shanghai, designed by an Italian architectural firm, perfectly combining Italian architectural style with Shanghai's unique Haipai style. Imagine walking into the hotel lobby and being greeted by the "Pantheon Floor Tiles" screen of Roman art, as if you were in a Roman holiday.
The hotel has a total of 82 rooms and suites, each with a warm yellow tone, blending Chinese and Italian design styles. The custom tea set and Bvlgari white tea series in the room make people feel luxurious. What's more amazing is that through the panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, you can overlook the beautiful scenery of the Bund and the magnificent skyline of Pudong.
Food lovers must not miss the dining experience in the hotel. IL Ristorante-Niko Romito won the "2021 Shanghai Michelin Guide" one-star restaurant, offering authentic Italian cuisine by chef Niko Romito. Bao Li Xuan is the only Bvlgari Chinese restaurant in the world, located in the Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce building, offering exquisite Cantonese cuisine. In addition, the hotel also has LA TERRAZZA rooftop bar, overlooking the night view of Suzhou River and the Bund.
Taking photos and checking in is also a highlight of this hotel. Whether it's borrowing a Bvlgari umbrella at the hotel entrance, or wearing a Bvlgari blanket on the sofa in the room, every corner is an ideal place for taking photos. Especially at night by the window, taking a photo with the night view of Shanghai, feeling the unique charm of Shanghai at night, it's simply indescribably beautiful.

Come to Shanghai and experience a different kind of China. Here in Shanghai, everyone will come to Nanjing East Pedestrian Street which is in The Bund. This is a popular city which their famous Western and Eastern architectural styles. All the restaurants and shopping centres here are to adapt into the influence and no individual will try to change the landscape. In the long stretch of Nanjing East Pedestrian Street, it is spacious and wide and connected to train lines so it is also very busy. Just stand against the building backdrop and you can never tell that you are in China.

Must Eat Snacks in Shanghai Yu Garden
#traveldiaries
When visiting Shanghai, Yu Garden is one of the must-see places, not just for its beautiful scenery but also for the amazing food. One of the top things to eat there is soup dumplings, also known as "xiao long bao." These dumplings are filled with juicy, flavorful broth and tender meat. The trick is to bite a little hole in the dumpling and slurp the soup before eating the whole thing. It's messy but so worth it!
Another treat you shouldn't miss is the minced meat mooncake. While mooncakes are usually eaten during the Mid-Autumn Festival, you'll find these savory versions year-round. They're stuffed with seasoned meat and wrapped in a flaky pastry. It's a bit different from the sweet mooncakes most people are used to, but they’re super tasty.
Who knows! Leaving Shanghai is even more painful than a breakup.
Shanghai Citywalk is on fire recently
Modern urban young people no longer have the courage to go on a whim
Urban hiking is also a good choice
The charm of Citywalk is
You never know what surprises you will encounter at the next intersection
And Shanghai is really the ceiling of the street
Plane trees, old houses, summer light and shadow
Go with the flow, use your feet and camera to record this city📸
I have sorted out the street sweeping strategy for you, friends who want to meet this summer can remember it first🗽
1️⃣Wukang Road: The 1183-meter-long Wukang Road condenses the famous people's road in Shanghai in the past century. On the sycamore Wukang Road, there are not only Wukang Building, but also more than 30 celebrity residences and Internet celebrity check-in windows;
2️⃣Gao'an Road: Although it is adjacent to the bustling Wukang Road, it is a quiet South French style street, especially the garden house at No. 11 Gao'an Road, the earthy yellow wall, the brown French arch and windows, standing in front of the house, it feels like a second. Crossed to South France;
3️⃣Taiyuan Road: Taiyuan Road in summer is really beautiful, especially the green building at the intersection is already lush, full of green walls, looking from a distance, it seems like a green castle, there is also a retro and elegant Taiyuan villa nearby, tired You can drink a cup of Internet celebrity OPS coffee;
4️⃣Changle Road: A road with characters, stories, and history. In the old days of Shanghai, it was called Pushi Road. From literati to politicians, they have been closely related to this road. Even today, as one of the representatives of the famous rich in the magic city, Changle Road is still full of sentiment and story;
5️⃣Anfu Road: A long-standing Internet celebrity road, the short 900-meter Anfu Road mixes multi-national styles, half old-fashioned, half modern, this is the center of trendy Internet celebrity street shooting, lively and noisy, but if you come before ten in the morning, you will find Different Anfu Road;
6️⃣Yuyuan Road: The name of Yuyuan Road has not changed for a century. From the old Shanghai Paramount, Jing'an Temple, to countless Internet celebrity shops now. I like the HOW restaurant on the street, full of white Mediterranean style, just like Santorini;
7️⃣Wuyuan Road: Wang this quiet and very lively road is the location of many movie scenes. It can be walked in ten minutes. There are many historical buildings, Zhang Leping's former residence, China Welfare Institute, etc. are all here;
8️⃣Fuxing West Road: Fuxing West Road is quiet in the middle of trouble, and it is calm and introverted in its bones. In the early years, there were high-end residences along the way, garden houses and Western-style high-rise apartments were scattered all over the place. It used to be the favorite place for Shanghai literati and scholars;

Michaela (@uncoveringcities) Shanghai Greenhouse Garden: An 'Indoor Resort' of Tropical Rainforest!
Attention everyone! The garden is opening in September, and the price list is at the end. First, let's get a taste of the tropical vibe! It's best to drive there as it's a bit far from the subway station. After having lunch, you can spend the entire afternoon inside because it's really huge!
There are three pavilions here, suitable for all ages to check in and take stunning photos! The space structure of the buildings showcases three types of tropical environments: tropical arid, tropical humid shade-tolerant, and tropical humid sun-loving. You can admire tropical arid plants, rainforest plants, and gorgeous flowers.
This is a large indoor comprehensive venue that combines play, appreciation, and education, making you feel like you're in a real tropical rainforest. Everyone will absolutely love it!
Suzhou River Citywalk, please copy this route directly.
Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day in Shanghai, please take this super chill Suzhou River Citywalk route!
Although the ten-mile foreign firm has withdrawn from the stage of history, the ruins can still feel the prosperity of the year;
The new buildings that have replaced it have gradually become a new era stamp.
Walking along the Suzhou River, it seems to travel through ancient and modern times, not only many excellent historical buildings,
Sihang Warehouse, Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce, former British Consulate, Shanghai Post Office;
There are also excellent opportunities to see the three-piece set of Lujiazui.
📝Suzhou River City Walk Route:
Sihang Warehouse-Shanghai General Chamber of Commerce-Shanghai Postal Museum-Zhapu Road Bridge-Waibaidu Bridge
1️⃣Sihang Warehouse
Now it is the Sihang Warehouse Anti-Japanese War Memorial Hall. The movie "Eight Hundred" tells the story that happened here. The memorial does not need to be reserved, and it can be visited from 9:00 to 16:30, and the park is closed at 4 o'clock. Next to the Sihang Warehouse is the Suzhou River Trail. When I went there, it was dusk, and the setting sun just sprinkled on the shade of the river.
2️⃣Shanghai Postal Museum
It is currently closed. The best place to shoot the Postal Museum is on Zhapu Road Bridge, and many couples take wedding photos here.
3️⃣Zhapu Road Bridge
Zhapu Road Bridge is an old master position for shooting Lujiazui scenery, and there is no need to go to the crowded Bund! Sitting on the river with a cup of coffee, blowing the summer evening breeze, and watching the beautiful scenery of Lujiazui is the most comfortable moment of the day.
4️⃣Waibaidu Bridge
Very "Romance in the Rain"! Waibaidu Bridge is also a favorite wedding photo location for couples.
🌁About the bridge:
I have to say that there are really many bridges on the Suzhou River! The architectural structure and materials are different, and different bridges will find different beauty! Along the way, you will pass: Sichuan Road Bridge, Henan Road Bridge, Fujian Road Bridge, Zhejiang Road Bridge, Tibet Road Bridge, Zhapu Road Bridge, Waibaidu Bridge....

Is the hot spring center that is popular all over Shanghai still worth visiting?
It's been a long time since I relaxed, and I happened to pass by Wujiaochang, so I thought I'd spend a day at the recently popular Shui Guo Hot Spring!
🍏 This Shui Guo is right next to Exit 4 of Jiangwan Stadium. You can see it as soon as you get out of the subway. You can feel their warm and welcoming service as soon as you enter the door, so considerate~
👉 Bathing Area
Their bathing area is quite large, with only two pools inside. Besides the barrel bath that I often go to, the large bath on the right has a massage function. The auntie will also proactively bring water while you are soaking, so considerate.
In addition, the toners and skincare products they provide are all high-end brands, such as Decorte, which I often use.
👉 Fruit Area
Besides soaking in the bath, you must eat fruit here! Unfortunately, durian and cherries are no longer available. The variety of fruits is not much now, and the most valuable one is mangosteen.
Additionally, they have newly introduced mango and watermelon smoothies, which are also available in unlimited quantities, and they are quite good.
👉 Dessert Area
The dessert area mainly offers ice cream. The popular New Zealand ice cream brands Lanwei Le and Haagen-Dazs are all-you-can-eat. Haagen-Dazs has more flavors.
I personally love Haagen-Dazs' macadamia nut flavor, rich in milk, and every bite contains fresh macadamia nuts, love it.
👉 Leisure and Entertainment Area
After eating and drinking, you definitely need to find a place to lie down! Highly recommend their tent rest area, equipped with blankets and pillows. It's super enjoyable even if you go alone, I slept there for several hours.
Additionally, they also have a game area, but if you want to play video games, you need to pay extra!
📍 No. 111 Songhu Road, Shanghai, 3-4F
brianna_likes_acetylcholine KAWS Super Big Moon at North Bund, both cute and beautiful
Finally caught the last train to North Bund to see KAWS with its super cute COMPANION, leisurely 'enjoying the moon'! 🌕
The giant inflatable buddy, holding a full moon and gazing at the starry sky, perfectly captures the romantic atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival! 🌌 But why can't it be displayed until the Mid-Autumn Festival??
📅 Date: August 29 - September 1
📍 Location: North Bund Riverside, Shanghai
🚗 Transportation: Metro Line 12, International Cruise Terminal Station, 10-minute walk
🌈 Nearby Recommendations: The Bund, North Bund Raffles City, White Magnolia Plaza, Waibaidu Bridge, Zhapu Road Bridge, etc.
🚶🏻♂️ Lively Colourfully Busy Street
#chinatrip
This is by far the busiest street I came across during the last visit in Shanghai - Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street.
Anything you can imagine are all available here, ranging from fashion boutique, huge sport wear shop like Nike, street food and even souvenir shops!
The view during day and night has got different vibe, would recommend to visit at two different timing!
Paris Shanghai District | Night view of the Bund Source, walking and taking photos
| Night view of the Bund Source, walking and taking photos. At the intersection of Beijing East Road and Yuanmingyuan Road ✅
After 10:30 PM, there are fewer people, making it great for photos.
The European retro architectural complex paired with lighting ✨ gives a great sense of visual layering.
It's rare to capture the Bund in such tranquility.
The zebra crossing next to Starbucks Reserve has a great angle.
I really like the sense of visual depth and the red brick walls here.

Shanghai must see exhibitions this year! From the moment I learned the news about visiting ancient Egyptian civilization, I eagerly awaited the "Top of the Pyramid: Exhibition of Ancient Egyptian Civilization" and was invited by art enthusiasts to visit. Here is a simple exhibition guide. This time, 492 sets of 788 cultural relics from different periods of ancient Egyptian civilization, collected from dust and transported, are displayed in the first floor space of Shangbo. The entire exhibition is divided into three parts: "The Kingdom of Pharaohs", "The Age of Tutankhamun", and "The Secrets of Sakara". I personally suggest observing the exhibition in this order. Starting from the kingdom of pharaohs, this area explores the background of ancient Egypt, showcasing its cosmology, royal order, and beliefs of later generations. From daily life to cultural aspects of the spiritual world, including statues of Ramses II and painted human coffins, the "Age of Tutankhamun" area showcases what was written in the tomb of King Tutankhamun of the 18th dynasty, nearly 3000 years ago. The lighting in this exhibition hall makes viewers feel like they are standing at the edge of a pyramid under the setting sun. The "Secrets of Sakara" exhibition hall displays many animal mummies from the Sakara tomb area, as well as civilizations that can be explored. The life of the Cat God Priest has always been. In addition to the exhibition on the first floor, there is also an immersive exploration experience on the second floor called "The Way to Disappear: The Pyramid of Giza". You can purchase a ticket separately to participate (G198/person). The 45 minute VR experience allowed me to escape into the Pyramid of Giza, which is quite interesting. In addition, Shangbo plans to hold ten "Museum Strange Meow Nights" every Saturday night for nine months, where everyone can bring their pet cats to watch the exhibition together? Shanghai Museum (People's Square Hall) Dad, July 19-2025. Research. On July 17th (closed on Mondays), 148 tickets will be left for each person, and tickets for parents and children (200 for one major and one small, and 320 for two major and one small) will be reserved. The summer vacation has all been fully booked, and tickets for the next month will be available at noon on the 1st of each month, with advance arrangements made. In order to conduct research, we can set the location for the alarm clock to look good in September! After the appointment, there are two more opportunities to change the visa

Key locations of Shanghai explosion asked!! From the circle of friends, Hi~I'm Maomao. How few trips are there in the summer vacation? I went to Mordor once. The green wutong trees are all over the street. The old western-style houses are full of vintage trees. If you only know about the crowded Bund, then I went to Shanghai for 18 times. The experience tells you that using citywalk is the right way to punch cards. I summarized 14 free locations of the film dispenser. It takes one day to complete your circle of friends. As for the common framework of the three piece suite and the old western-style houses, it is suggested to expand the corner shooting of the intersection of Yongjia Road, Taiyuan Road, Jing'an Temple, a ceremony and the ocean to hold a Mahle Villa, Shamei Building, Shanghai Postal Museum, Garden Bridge of Shanghai, the intersection of Long Road and Changzhi Road, a Lushun Road and the road intersection, East Changzhi, North Bund, Riverside Green Land, Xiepu Road Ferry, Xiepu Road Ferry (P2), the real version of Lalaland, which is like a romantic film, the southern overpass can be photographed to combine the city and ancient buildings, and there is a kind of shock through the Three Jing'an Temple (P3) 4 Taiyuan Road Yongjia Road Intersection (P4) The castle wrapped in green ivy is only suitable for summer viewing. If you like to see the Wuyu Jinxiang New Asia Hotel (P5), you can see the Bund architectural complex at a glance. One day, it will be even more stunning. The towering skyscrapers at the intersection of Liudong Changzhi Road and Lushun Road (P6) have risen from the ground, creating a stunning visual impact. Walking across the zebra crossing, taking a photo is a big picture
