As the 7th artist to cooperate with the Nanfang North Art Project, Wang Shaoshuai brought his exhibition "Smile" to Hongqiao Nanfang City. The Smile Series exhibits a total of 27 paintings, 4 sculptures and 2 public installations. Continuing Wang Shaoshuai’s symbolic creative approach to the Red Ball Project, a distinct smile runs through all the works, turning the entire exhibition into a huge pop art installation. The "smile" mark is like a magic spell that activates all people and things, forming an energy field with bright colors, warmth and healing. Even in each painting, the artist is attempting to create a two-dimensional installation. The mixture of charcoal, pastel, oil paint and acrylic makes each canvas seem like a mini gallery on an easel. Following the artist's brushstrokes, wandering through the piles of paint is like a series of colorful adventures. As you walk through the artworks, you’ll see traces of repeated smearing and erasure, the flow of paint, impromptu and random lines, and the standardized format of smiling faces formed through carving or spray painting.
