M50 Creative Park: A fashionable cultural and creative landmark by the Suzhou River

M50 Creative Park, located at No. 50 Moganshan Road, Putuo District, Shanghai, was originally the Shanghai Chunming Textile Mill, which began its transformation into an art and creative park in 2000. Tracing back the history of M50, it was originally a modern family enterprise of Huizhou merchants—the Xinhe Yarn Factory, which was renamed to Shanghai No. 12 Wool Textile Factory and Shanghai Chunming Textile Mill after liberation. The entire park has more than 50 industrial buildings from various historical periods from the 1930s to the 1990s, making it the most complete preservation of national industrial architecture on the banks of the Suzhou River. Since the new century, M50 has gradually introduced artists' studios, cultural and art institutions, and design companies focusing on visual arts and creative design through the construction of urban industrial parks and business adjustments, becoming one of the iconic creative parks in Shanghai. Subsequently, M50 Creative Park has organized and participated in a series of fashionable events such as the 2005 Shanghai International Fashion Culture Festival, Fashion Week, Fashion Night, Shanghai Suzhou River·2007 Cultural and Creative Industries Forum, CREATIVEM50 Annual Creative Talent Selection, M50 Gallery Joint Opening, ADICOLOR Celebrity Charity Party, L'Oréal Product Promotion, and more. In 2004, M50 Creative Park was listed by TIME magazine's Asian edition as one of the recommended Shanghai cultural landmarks to visit.
