JW Marriott in Dongfang Meigu has become the 50th Marriott in Shanghai, located on the man-made island at the center of the new landmark 'Shanghai Fish' in Fengxian, next to the Fengxian Museum, and just a few steps away from a large forest park, which attracts many people on weekends. Designed by Gensler, the high part of the lobby corridor is adorned with a photo of the founder, JW Marriott, which has a style all its own. Design In the fountain at the hotel's main entrance, there is a semi-circular art installation named 'Taiji Fish', created with the traditional Chinese cultural concept of balance between Yin and Yang and the interplay of substance and void. In the middle of the lobby, there is an ancient olive tree transplanted from Spain, which not only has the unique charm of an old tree but also the beautiful scenery under its lush branches. Rooms The executive suite is about 95 square meters with a small balcony, and the layout is very square. Facing the lake view, it can be said that as soon as you open the window, there is the vast lake. The hotel has also thoughtfully decorated the room, providing welcome fruits and red wine. The kids absolutely loved the little balloons in the decoration. From the room, you can directly see the museum, and on a good day, the lake shimmers, making it blissful to lie on the small sofa and take a nap. Dining The hotel's current happy hour is set up in the buffet restaurant, which is also where you enjoy the buffet's happy hour. So whatever the standard of the buffet, that's what happy hour is like, with plenty of king crabs and oysters, crayfish, as well as a variety of barbecues and seafood. The freshly cooked teppanyaki seafood is highly recommended. There are many styles of ice cream, and a lot of delicious drinks, including various imported beverages. Thinking about it, I didn't eat enough haha, and there's also a lot for kids to eat, like the crayfish rice. During the meal, the buffet restaurant will occasionally feed you various new products. There's a crayfish burger that seems to be so plentiful it's like the crayfish cost nothing, and I would have wanted another one if I hadn't been so full. It's really not friendly for those on a diet, as you can eat until you burst. Breakfast The breakfast is super strong, with the taste of a resort hotel, but the place is so big that it's inevitable to get lost. There are many Chinese steamed items, and you can really feel the hotel's sincerity in the Chinese food section, with four types of sweet and savory porridge, freshly made jianbing guozi with pickled bamboo shoots, impressive! There are also bread pudding and hot oatmeal porridge, and after communicating with the chef, it feels like they are very considerate of the guests. Entertainment At the hotel entrance, you can rent a third-party bicycle for two to ride around the lake, or find a shared bike nearby. Riding around the lake in the morning really opens up your body and mind, and everything tastes delicious.
