Memphis is not a style, Memphis is an attitude

"Memphis Again: Design Innovation 1981-1985" was launched at Shanghai Yicang Art Museum, and the exhibition will last from May 14 to July 30, 2023🖼 Through this exhibition, I also visited the Yicang Art Museum for the first time. The art museum by the river is a perfect work of art in itself. This exhibition mainly displays nearly 200 of the most representative furniture and objects launched by the Italian design trend Memphis between 1981 and 1985. The exhibits are displayed on the second and third floors of the museum. This exhibition takes the fashion shows and nightclub styles of the 1980s as the main theme, immersing people in a world full of strong colors. At the same time, the faint lights are intertwined with disco music, allowing people to walk through the nearly 80-meter fashionable corridor and find themselves in a psychedelic club in Memphis. The rebellion of Memphis presented a new design language, which makes people sigh that the designs of the 1980s are still at the forefront of fashion today, perfectly integrating elegance and kitsch, asymmetry and unexpected shapes.
