Yeouido Park: A Refreshing Urban Oasis

#cityplaybook My recent visit to Yeouido Park was a delightful experience, especially with the weather being absolutely gorgeous. Much like the "North Seoul Dream Forest" (which the park reminded me of for its unexpected greenery), Yeouido Park truly shines as a verdant haven in the heart of the city. It was one of those days where the sky was bright, the foliage was lush, and the overall atmosphere felt incredibly refreshing. It even gave off a vibe reminiscent of Jeju Island with its natural beauty and expansive feel, a true escape from the urban bustle. The park itself is fantastic for a leisurely stroll or simply relaxing amidst nature. It's spacious, well-maintained, and offers plenty of spots to just sit back and soak in the good weather. If you're looking for a peaceful escape without leaving the city, Yeouido Park definitely delivers. However, my experience wasn't entirely perfect, particularly when it came to a coffee purchase from a nearby cafe called O'Blanche. I ordered an Earl Grey tea, and to my surprise, it was served directly in a flimsy takeaway cup, seemingly steeped with boiling water and then topped with ice and water. Typically, I'd expect the tea to be brewed in a separate vessel before being poured into the serving cup with ice. This method felt a bit concerning, as if there was a risk of environmental hormones leaching into the drink. It was a bit of a letdown, and although my friend was treating, I ended up not enjoying the tea much because of it. Despite the minor disappointment with the tea, Yeouido Park itself remains a highly recommended spot. Its beauty and tranquility easily overshadowed the small cafe misstep. It’s a wonderful place to enjoy nature, take a break from city life, and perhaps even grab a delicious "sogeum-ppang" (salt bread) from a local bakery, as I happily did!
