It is an area where tradition and modernity coexist in downtown Seoul, and you can easily walk around and visit it in a day. 1. Seochon – Harmony of Hanoks and Alleys The first place I visited was Seochon. This area, located west of Gyeongbokgung Palace, is a place where Hanoks and modern shops are mixed. It was nice to take a quiet walk near the Suseong-dong Valley, and there were many cafes, galleries, and small restaurants nearby. It was fun to walk because it is at the foot of Inwangsan Mountain, and I was able to have lunch at the Sejong Village Food Culture Street. 2. Bukchon – A representative Hanok village Next, I moved to Bukchon. It is a traditional Hanok-dense area located between Gyeongbokgung Palace and Changdeokgung Palace. Bukchon-ro and Gahoe-dong were crowded with tourists, so they were somewhat crowded, but if you go into the inner alleys, you can feel a quiet and organized atmosphere. I stopped by Bukchon Cultural Center to get information about the town, and headed out to Samcheong-dong to have a cup of coffee and take a break. 3. Ikseon-dong – A commercial district with a mix of retro and modern The last course is Ikseon-dong. It is a densely populated area of ​​hanoks near Jongno 3-ga, and there are many trendy emotional cafes and restaurants these days. The narrow alleys are packed with shops, so there are many tourists and it feels lively. The atmosphere is retro, but the layout of the shops is modern. I had dinner here and finished my outing. Overall All three areas are within walking distance and each has its own charm. Seochon is quiet, Bukchon is traditional, and Ikseon-dong is lively. This is a recommended course for those who want to see the Jongno area in one day.
