Deoksugung Junghwajeon is said to be the place where major national ceremonies such as the king's coronation and reception of foreign envoys were held. It was a two-story building when it was first built in 1902, but after it was destroyed by fire in 1904, it was rebuilt as a single-story building in 1906.
