Seoul Attractions: Cheonggyecheon, a Romantic and Charming Retreat

Cheonggyecheon (청계천) is an artificial stream in the heart of Seoul, flowing from Dongdaemun District through Jongno District, and finally into the Han River. Originally a natural river, it was covered over to make way for roads in 1958. In 2003, the Seoul Metropolitan Government began restoration work on Cheonggyecheon, which was completed in 2005. Today, Cheonggyecheon has become a beloved resting spot for citizens and tourists alike, featuring numerous beautiful bridges and fountains along its path. It becomes particularly romantic and enchanting when illuminated at night.
