The house of sea lady in Jeju

#cherryblossom2024 The story of sea lady (Haeneo, 해녀) has been around for several hundred years and thus became a folklore in Jeju. Their main job is to harvest shellfish especially abalone in deep sea, and you usually see restaurants selling abalone dishes operated by them. This time, we went to this shop called Samdae Haeneo ui Jip to have our lunch. We ordered the abalome porridge, grilled abalone in butter and hot stone seafood soup. This meal is very scumptious and we really enjoy this meal full of the taste from the sea. This shop is located at the very rural area of Seogwipo and might be hard to locate, so be sure to plan ahead before visiting.
