🇯🇵 Zuihoden, Sendai, Japan👣 Date Masamune's temple

Zuihoden is a mausoleum located in Aoba Ward, Sendai, where Date Masamune, the founder of the Sendai domain, is enshrined. Zuihoden was designated as a national treasure of Japan in 1931, but Sendai was attacked by US air raids in 1945 and it was not rebuilt until 1979. The carvings on top of the rebuilt Zuihoden are not sloppy at all. The colors are colorful and saturated, and the family crests are also delicately carved. Photography is prohibited in the museum, but there is a model of Date Masamune's appearance recreated based on the unearthed skull, and the details of the disease in his right eye are also reproduced. Other replicas of unearthed cultural relics are also on display. The road leading to Zuihoden is uphill, and you can feel the trees surrounding you as you walk. It makes you feel very peaceful. There are also boot-shaped stones paving the road.
