Tenerife to La Gomera ferry 🇪🇸

La Gomera is one of Spain’s Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Africa. With an area of 142 square miles it is the third smallest of the archipelago’s eight main islands ,and is also the third least populated with just 22,000 inhabitants. San Sebastian de la Gomera is the capital and also hosts the main harbour and the population was about 9,500 in 2023. The port serves ferry routes to the islands of Tenerife , La Palma and El Hierro with regular year round departures. Armas and Fred Olson ferry companies operate these routes and the trip takes about 50 minutes I spent the day in San Sebastián after getting the ferry over from Los Cristianos port in Tenerife. Los Cristianos is a lively and popular coastal town in the south of Tenerife , known for its beautiful beaches and bustling promenade. The ferry port/Terminal is situated directly opposite and has up to 56 sailings each week, with Armas and Fred Olsen ferry companies travelling to , El Hierro, La Palma and La Gomera. The Terminal in Los Cristianos is easily accessible and has parking , toilets , a bar/ restaurant with observation deck and tourist information, you can purchase tickets online or at the Armas/ Fred Olsen desks , the staff are very friendly and helpful and speak English. I left in the morning early and waited in the terminal. I joined the very busy queue and after a passport check I was able to board . The fast ferry took about 50 minutes and we arrived in La Gomera to beautiful and very hot February weather , and to be honest when I arrived I just wanted to chill on the nearby beach ,so after disembarking the ferry I walked from the port to the nearest beach ,(playa de San Sebastián) which took about 10/15 minutes and I spent most of the day sun bathing and swimming which was lovely . But there are lots of things to see and do if you’re feeling adventurous and want to explore. The church of assumption has a mural depicting an 18th century battle , and a museum with religious artwork dating from the 16th century. Nearby, La Gomera Archaeological Museum traces the island’s indigenous cultures through artifacts and scale models, and south is Torre del Conde , a medieval fortification set in a lush park. With plenty of hiking and beaches close by as well as restaurants , bars and shops ,there is so much to see and do! The bus station named Estacion de Guaguas is used for bus lines throughout the island and is located on the Avenida Del Quinto Centenario. I walked back to the Terminal taking a few more photos and boarded the last ferry of the day at 17:30 and my day in La Gomera was over , I enjoyed a great sunset and quiet trip back on the outside deck of the ship and we arrived back in Tenerife just as it was getting dark … I had a really lovely day trip and I would definitely recommend a visit ! , the ferry is easy to book and both ports are easily accessible for foot passengers like me or if your driving and taking your vehicle. 👍🏼
